Kyle was born and raised in the suburbs of southern California. He attended California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, where he majored in chemistry, and also studied abroad at the University of Otago in New Zealand. Throughout college, he led backpacking, climbing, surfing, and camping trips for other students and members of the local community across California’s coast and the Sierra Nevada mountains. After working as a chemist for a year after college, Kyle left the central coast to pursue other passions — mainly rafting rivers and leading trips! Kyle started traveling internationally during college and since has been lucky enough to experience parts of New Zealand, Thailand, Costa Rica, and Borneo. In his free time, he enjoys whitewater kayaking, climbing, dancing, going to live music, and doing it all in full costume. Kyle now works seasonally in outdoor adventure/service guiding during the spring, summer, and fall and spends his winters in Baja, Mexico, eating tacos and kite surfing.
