Job Description
ARCC is looking for Program Leaders who are enthusiastic about working with students ages 13 -18, and who have strong experience working with groups. ARCC leaders focus on fostering constructive group dynamics, facilitating games, activities and initiatives, overseeing outfitted activities, and ensuring that each person in the group is able to safely achieve goals consistent with their abilities. Trip Leaders also provide natural and cultural history education relevant to their location as well as teach the curriculum designed for our community service and focus programs. Leaders will guide groups of up to eighteen students, with a co-leader, through rigorous projects, cultural immersion, and adventure programs. The trips are both mentally and physically challenging for leaders and participants, with programs ranging from 14 to 21 days in duration.
ARCC seeks leaders who will be a positive influence on the participants, supporting them throughout the trip and creating a fun, safe, and supportive environment in which they can thrive. Our leaders and students participate in a variety of activities including backpacking, rafting, SCUBA diving, surfing, snorkeling, sea kayaking, international service projects, and cultural exchanges. Experience in these areas is helpful, but not required. Other leader responsibilities include travel logistics, keeping a daily trip log, communicating with office staff about the status of the trip, and making crucial decisions along the way that may affect the outcome of the trip.
Requirements
• Minimum 21 years of age.
• Current certification in Wilderness First Responder (WFR), EMT, or WEMT by June 2023.
• Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or in the process of completing a degree.
• Excellent health and physical condition and fully COVID-19 vaccinated.
• Current driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Clean background check.
• Available for employment June through early August 2023.

Salary and Benefits
ARCC leaders are contracted to lead one or two trips, ranging from 2 to 3.5 weeks each. All leaders are required to participate in our Staff Training in Bend, OR. Dates are June 16- 21, 2023. The first-year leader salary ranges from $1,600 – $5,000 depending on the length, location, and the number of trips led. All living and travel expenses will be paid for while on program. In addition, we offer great pro-deals on outdoor equipment from many well-known manufacturers.

ARCC GAP SEMESTER INSTRUCTOR
Program Description
ARCC Programs is the leading provider of Adventure, Community Service, International Travel, and Wilderness Travel programs for teenagers and young adults in the United States. ARCC Gap Semester programs offer an educational and cultural bridge between high school and college. The ARCC Gap Semester programs are an opportunity to live, work, learn and explore in some of the greatest classrooms on earth. Going beyond the weekend visit, we take the time to plant our feet in each location, becoming part of the community at large. Job Description
ARCC is looking for instructors who are enthusiastic about working with students aged 17-20 and who have strong experience working with groups. ARCC Instructors provide an academic framework and structure relevant to their location, as well as teach the curriculum designed for each location and global theme. In addition, instructors focus on fostering constructive group dynamics, implementing ARCC’s leadership progression, facilitating games, activities, and initiatives, overseeing outfitted activities, and ensuring that each person in the group is able to safely achieve goals consistent with their abilities. Two instructors will guide a group of up to fourteen students through rigorous domestic and international settings while facilitating an educational curriculum. These semesters are both mentally and physically challenging for instructors and participants, with many unexpected obstacles and issues.
ARCC seeks instructors who will be a positive influence on the participants, supporting them throughout the semester and creating a fun, safe, and supportive environment in which they can thrive. Our instructors are not supervising each student 24 hours a day for the semester, but rather helping them develop their own comfort in each regional location, setting them up to achieve positive development in a safe environment.
Responsibilities:
- Travel logistics (including border crossings, money exchanges, etc.)

Qualifications:
- Current certification in Wilderness First Responder (WFR, EMT, or WEMT)
- CPR and AED certification, or able to obtain before the start of your employment

- Prior experience leading programs for ARCC Programs (preferred)
- Basic proficiency in a relevant foreign language for Southeast Asia, Western Mediterranean, East Africa, and the Pacific Islands (preferred, but not required)
- High intermediate to advanced fluency in Spanish (required for Central America and South America)
- Must be at least 23 years old at the time of the start of the program
- Experience traveling in the developing world (international programs)
- Experience guiding in the outdoors, including camping and cooking skills (domestic programs)
- Experience leading groups (preferably ages 17-20)
- Demonstrated experience working with a co-leader
- Demonstrated experience facilitating educational curriculum at a high school level
- Experience leading volunteer groups

Salary and Benefits
ARCC Instructors are contracted to lead a 70-day semester program. The instructor salary is competitive within the market. All living and travel expenses will be paid for while working for ARCC. Travel insurance, worker’s compensation, and international emergency evacuation insurance, will be provided for the duration of your program. We provide adequate professional and leadership development opportunities through our seven-day staff training course and six-day semester prep. We encourage instructors to take time off as needed throughout the semester as long as there is communication with the co-instructor and the office, as self-care is the most important way for instructors to give their best selves to their students and the experience. We ensure adequate co-instructors for all of our gap instructors, as well as opportunities for future employment given a successful semester. With our spring gap programs, custom program opportunities, and summer trips, there are ample opportunities for nearly year-round employment. As we recognize that seasonal employment can be challenging to come by, we do everything we can to provide opportunities for our instructors in every season. In addition, we offer great pro-deals on outdoor equipment from many well-known manufacturers.

Custom Program Coordinator

Over the years we have evolved from offering primarily wilderness-based programs to a roster including both domestic and international adventure, service and experiential education based programs. Our programs are designed as immersive experiences that provide students with transformational learning opportunities alongside one-of-a-kind adventure and fun, all while exploring off-the-beaten-path locations worldwide.
We offer gap semesters for 17-20 year olds, summer programs for middle and high school students, and custom programs for groups (primarily secondary schools, but also universities, clubs, organizations, and family groups). As our custom program division has grown in recent years, we are looking for a Custom Program Coordinator to support the design and delivery of our custom group programming.
Overview:
The Custom Program Coordinator is responsible for supporting the design and delivery of outdoor educational programming in partnership with secondary schools, universities, clubs, organizations, and family groups. In this role, you will work with ARCC’s Director of Custom Programming, ARCC Summer & Gap Directors, local in-country partners, in-field leaders, and schools and other custom partners to design, deliver, support, and evaluate custom group programs to meet our partners’ expected outcomes. This role will report directly to the Director of Custom Programming. Highlights of this position include the following:

- Collaborate with in-country partners and Summer & Gap Directors to coordinate program itinerary logistics such as accommodation reservations, transportation, adventure and educational activities, etc.
- Collect and organize program paperwork (e.g. participant waivers, medical information, etc.) and equipment (e.g. first-aid kits, tents, camping supplies, etc.)
- Support program finances through creation of program budgets, collecting and submitting invoices, and recording and tracking expenses
- Create, maintain, and distribute custom program resources and curriculum
- Communicate with schools and other custom partners through participating in calls with teachers and school administrators and supporting and running informational sessions and pre-program presentations
- Design and run pre-program trainings and post-program debrief sessions with in-field leaders
- Support leaders while in the field through coordinating logistics or providing other support as needed
- Support the development of new programming options by researching, scouting locations (virtually and physically), and vetting potential partners
- Contribute to the overall design, delivery, assessment, and evaluation of custom programs
- Contribute to securing custom partners and growing ARCC’s custom programs through developing program proposals and supporting marketing and outreach efforts
- Fill other roles and responsibilities as needed for the ARCC team, e.g., being on-call for specified periods of time, coordinating with leader hiring needs, supporting summer and gap programming during peak busy seasons, etc.
Compensation:
This position is located in Bend, Oregon. $45,000 – $50,000 annual starting salary commensurate with experience level with benefits including 3 weeks of paid vacation per year (plus holidays), medical coverage, and 401K (after 9 months of employment). Responsibilities:
The Gap Director will join a small team of hard-working individuals committed to and passionate about delivering quality, impactful, growth-oriented educational gap semesters for students between 17 – 20 years old. Interested applicants should exhibit passion for
project-based learning and educational growth; experience within the gap field is preferred.
All ARCC staff play a critical role in parent and student communications, including talking to parents on the phone as the primary form of sales of programs. The Gap Director will also be an integral member of ARCC’s central operations; assisting with Staff Training, gap program preparation, and providing logistical support to staff and groups out in the field as well as any emergency situations that arise.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Successful planning, management, and supervision of semester logistics for assigned programs, including implementing improvements as needed
Financial responsibility for assigned programs. This includes cost-benefit analysis, contract management, collection of fees or monies owed, and maintaining the profitability of programs
Direct supervision of gap instructors for assigned programs during semester operation, and providing instructors and ARCC with evaluations and feedback of said instructors
Logistical planning of gap training, preparation, debrief, etc.
Logistical assistance or help with any emergency situations that arise while programs are in the field
Answering phones and providing information/support/sales assistance or routing calls to appropriate staff members year round

Overview:
The Marketing Associate position is a full-time, multi-faceted role that will support and contribute to the planning and execution of ARCC’s marketing, advertising and sales initiatives. This role will lead campaigns for the primary marketing strategies and develop effective content for distribution. We are looking for someone with marketing experience, and an openness to learn and develop skill sets in this area. This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Terms and Compensation:
This position is ideally based in Bend, OR with a remote possibility contingent on circumstances. $45,000 – 65,000 annual starting salary commensurate with experience level, and benefits including three weeks of paid vacation per year (plus holidays), medical coverage, and 401K (after nine months of employment).
