Kyle Hagerstrom

Born in South Korea and raised in the vibrant urban energy of Hong Kong and Seoul, Kyle has always navigated the world through a global lens. His journey with ARCC began as a student on the Spring 2022 Hawaii Gap Semester, a pivotal experience that redirected his path toward sustainability and experiential education! Kyle attended the University of Virginia, where he bridged the gap between environmental stewardship and modern technology by pairing a degree in Global Sustainability with Data Science.

Moments that fill Kyle’s life with joy: the smell of an ocean breeze, waking up while cowboy camping under a blanket of stars, and that legendary first home-cooked meal after a long backpacking trip. Off the trail he can be found dissecting the latest movie he’s seen or hollering along with a crowd at a small but lively jazz performance.

During his time at UVA, Kyle transitioned from student to mentor, serving as an outdoor trip leader across the blue-ridged backcountry of Virginia and the rugged highlands of West Virginia. Whether navigating ridgelines or facilitating intentional group reflections, he is dedicated to creating spaces where students feel empowered to challenge their limits. Ultimately, Kyle hopes to inspire a sense of deep curiosity and global connection in his students, the same values that shaped his own experience as an ARCC student.
