Malcolm Brown

Malcolm was born and raised on a high school campus in Delaware where both of his parents were teachers, so he was raised by a community of educators. He’s only spent one summer away from his summer camp in the Adirondack mountains since he was 11 years old, where he has been a camper, counselor, Spain trip leader, and rock climbing and ropes course facilitator. He went to Sewanee, a small university in rural Tennessee, where he enjoyed the incredible outdoors program and beautiful campus while majoring in International Studies and Religious Studies, and minoring in Spanish. Malcolm moved to Miami after college and served as an Americorps member with City Year, working as an assistant teacher and interventionist in an ESL classroom. He loved it so much that he became a teacher just like his parents. He moved to Nashville, Tennessee where he taught English Language Arts for 3 years and earned his Masters in Education, and then decided that although he loves teaching, the traditional classroom may not be for him. From there he began leading educational trips and international gap semesters, which are a perfect melding of his love for education, travel, and adventure!
